Resolves Jan 1, 2027
$
This market tracks whether Ethereum will surpass specified price levels by January 1, 2027 at 12:00AM. Currently, the probability of Ethereum reaching above $3500.00 on Kalshi is 16.0%, while the probability of it reaching above $3750.00 is 12.0%. The resolution source for this market is based on the spot price of Ethereum in U.S. dollars. Traders should watch Ethereum’s performance leading up to January 1, 2027, as this date represents the end of the betting period and the point at which the market will resolve based on the spot price.
Resolution is determined by the CF Ethereum Real-Time Index (ETHUSD_RTI) measured from market issuance through January 1, 2027 at 12:00 AM ET. The resolution price is calculated using a trimmed mean methodology: all minute-by-minute ETHUSD_RTI values during the measurement period are collected, the top 20% and bottom 20% of values are excluded, and the remaining 60% are averaged. Each outcome resolves to Yes if the trimmed mean price reaches or exceeds its specified threshold. If no data is available at expiration, all outcomes resolve to No. Price data from CF Benchmarks is considered authoritative, and any revisions made after expiration do not affect market resolution.
Currently, prediction market odds reflect a range of expectations for Ethereum's price in 2026. These expectations are often different than those found in traditional polls or analyst forecasts, as this market represents a weighted view of informed traders putting their capital at risk. While many analysts offer price targets, this market provides a continuously updated, financially-backed forecast. Discrepancies between prediction market prices and external forecasts can indicate areas where the market believes information is mispriced or underestimated.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders can buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether Ethereum will reach certain price points by the resolution date. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. Higher demand for a contract increases its price, indicating greater belief in that outcome. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to aggregate information and provide a real-time assessment of Ethereum’s potential price in 2026.
This market resolves around Jan 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price of Ethereum on a specified exchange will be used to determine which contracts payout. The exact exchange and methodology for determining the final price are detailed in the market’s specific rules on Kalshi. Traders will be able to view the resolution details and payout amounts on the platform once the event has been verified.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Major technological advancements in the Ethereum network, such as successful upgrades or the implementation of scaling solutions, could positively impact prices. Conversely, regulatory changes, security breaches, or increased competition from other cryptocurrencies could exert downward pressure. Broader macroeconomic trends, like interest rate changes or shifts in investor sentiment towards risk assets, will also play a role. Any significant news related to the adoption of Ethereum by institutions or mainstream users could also move this market.
