This market will resolve to "Yes" if Houthi forces conduct a kinetic strike on or otherwise seize control of a commercial ship between market creation and the specified date AST (UTC+03:00). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Attacks on military vessels will not be considered. Missile/drone strikes targeting a ship that are intercepted or otherwise do not directly impact the vessel will not be considered, regardless of damage through debris. Seize control refers to Houthi forces forcefully boarding and taking control of a commercial ship. Qualifying incidents include, but are not limited to, drone and missile strikes, aerial bombings, and kinetic actions carried out by Houthi operatives in person, such as seizing a ship by force. The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting. If a kinetic incident occurs, but, on the specified date, 11:59 PM AST, material ambiguity remains as to whether the incident can be attributed to Houthi operatives, this market may remain open for an additional 3 calendar days, AST. If, at such time, attribution of the incident still cannot be confirmed, this market will resolve to “No”.

On Polymarket, the current probability reflects trader sentiment rather than traditional sportsbook lines. While sportsbooks may incorporate additional factors or adjustments, this market provides a dynamic, community-driven view that can diverge significantly. The difference often comes down to how quickly new information is incorporated and the unique risk assessments made by prediction market participants versus sportsbook operators. Traders on Polymarket react in real time to news and developments, which can cause this market’s implied odds to shift more sharply than sportsbook odds in the same period.
This market resolves around Sep 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution depends on whether Houthi forces have, within the specified timeframe, conducted a successful attack on commercial shipping vessels as defined by the market rules. The process relies on widely reported news sources and official maritime authority bulletins to verify occurrences.
Several key developments could shift this market before Sep 30, 2026. Any confirmed or credible reports of Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in critical shipping lanes would likely push the probability higher. Conversely, successful international naval patrols, diplomatic de-escalations, or explicit statements from regional powers indicating reduced risk could drive the price down. Interruptions to major shipping routes, insurance spikes for vessels passing through affected zones, or unexpected military actions by involved parties may also cause rapid movements. Traders will be closely monitoring maritime security advisories, naval patrol updates, and geopolitical statements for cues.
