Description

This group forecasts the outcome of the 2026 Hamilton, Ontario mayoral election. Markets ask whether specific candidates will win, and also include a 'someone else' option. Resolution hinges on identifying the official winner of the election.

PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi lacks an explicit 'Other' option, implicitly including all non-listed candidates in each individual candidate market.Hero tip: Consider the probability of candidates not listed on Kalshi. If you believe a non-listed candidate has a significant chance of winning, Polymarket's 'someone else' market may be a better trading opportunity.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Offers markets for numerous candidates *and* a dedicated 'someone else' market. Resolves to the official mayor, or 'Other' if no winner is known by June 30, 2027. Explicitly excludes interim/placeholder mayors.
  • Kalshi: Offers markets only for a subset of candidates. If none of the listed candidates win, the market resolves to the last traded price. No explicit 'Other' option is present.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often offer a different perspective than traditional polling averages. While polls capture stated preferences, this market reflects what individuals are willing to *stake* on those preferences. This can lead to divergences, as prediction markets incorporate more information – including polling data, fundraising numbers, and qualitative assessments of candidate performance. Historically, prediction markets have demonstrated a strong track record of accuracy, sometimes outperforming polls, especially closer to the election date. It's important to consider both sources of information for a comprehensive understanding of the race.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Major endorsements, unexpected debate performances, and shifts in media coverage could all influence trader sentiment. Significant fundraising announcements or the release of new polling data are also likely to cause price movements. Any unforeseen events impacting the candidates’ campaigns, such as scandals or policy changes, could also trigger substantial shifts in the market. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for understanding the evolving dynamics of the Hamilton mayoral election and how they are reflected in this market.
