Description

This market will resolve to “Yes” if Grok (Web) experiences an incident labeled “outage” on the official xAI Grok (Web) status page between market creation and the listed date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” Only incidents listed under Grok (Web) will be considered. Incidents affecting Grok in X, Grok (iOS), Grok (Android), or similar but not Grok (Web), will not qualify. Incidents labeled “disruption” or “info” will not qualify. An incident’s status while it remains ongoing will not determine the market’s resolution; only incidents marked “Resolved” will be considered. An incident which is marked "Resolved" outside this market’s timeframe will only qualify if ongoing at the end of the listed calendar date (ET), in which case the market will remain open until that incident is marked “Resolved,” and resolution of this market will be based on the incident classification displayed immediately after it is marked "Resolved." The primary resolution source for this market will be the official xAI Grok (Web) status page at https://status.x.ai/grok-com. If this resolution source is unavailable at check time, this market will remain open until it comes back online and resolve based on the first check after it becomes available. If it becomes permanently unavailable, this market will resolve to "No".

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Grok outage market displays the current odds of an outage occurring, along with a price history chart showing how those odds have changed over time. You can also find the 24-hour trading volume, which currently stands at $847, and the total volume traded to date, which is $848. This allows traders to quickly assess market sentiment and activity related to potential disruptions in Grok's service. The dashboard provides a clear, real-time view of how the prediction market is evaluating the likelihood of a Grok outage.

Currently, it's difficult to directly compare the predictions within this market to specific analyst forecasts regarding Grok's reliability. However, the collective wisdom of traders on Polymarket offers a unique perspective, often reflecting a broader range of factors than traditional analysis. If analysts predict a low probability of a significant outage, we might expect to see lower odds reflected in this market. Conversely, if analysts foresee potential vulnerabilities, the odds could be higher. It’s important to remember that this market represents a probabilistic assessment, not a definitive prediction, and is subject to change as new information emerges.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about whether a Grok outage will occur by a specific date. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the event happening. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market utilizes a constant product formula, similar to automated market makers in decentralized finance, to determine the price based on the ratio of shares representing 'yes' versus 'no' outcomes. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market odds adjust rapidly to new information and trading activity.

This market resolves around Dec 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether a significant, widely-reported outage of Grok’s web service occurred before the resolution date. The specifics of what constitutes a 'significant outage' are defined within the market's rules on Polymarket. Traders should review those rules carefully to understand the conditions for settlement. The resolution process aims to provide a transparent and objective determination of the market's outcome based on publicly available information.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any reports of technical issues, security breaches, or unexpected downtime affecting Grok’s web service would likely cause the odds to shift. Major updates or changes to Grok’s infrastructure, particularly those involving potential risks, could also influence trading activity. Furthermore, broader events impacting the stability of the internet or cloud service providers that Grok relies on could introduce volatility. Increased media attention or public discussion surrounding Grok’s reliability could also drive changes in the market as more traders participate and react to new information.
