This event group asks forecasters to predict the closing price of Google (GOOGL) stock on the final day of trading during the week of November 2nd, 2023. Markets are structured to predict whether the closing price will fall within specific price ranges.
This market will resolve according to the Close price for Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) on the final day of trading of the week specified in the title (normally Friday). If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. Closing prices will be used exactly as published by Pyth, without rounding. For a standard full trading session, the closing price refers to the Pyth "Close" value of the 1-minute candle corresponding to the final minute of regular trading hours on the primary exchange. If the relevant session is shortened (for example, due to a market-holiday schedule), the Pyth "Close" value of the 1-minute candle corresponding to the final minute of that shortened session will be used. If the relevant day has no valid Pyth Close value for the 1-minute candle corresponding to the end of regular trading hours on the primary exchange, the market will use the last valid Pyth price achieved during the regular trading hours of the primary exchange as the effective closing price. If no valid Pyth price exists for that trading day due to a system outage, data failure, or other technical disruption, the official closing price published by the primary exchange on which the listed security trades will be used to determine the closing price for that day. In the event of a stock split, reverse stock split, or similar corporate action affecting the listed security during the listed time frame, this market will resolve based on split-adjusted prices as displayed on Pyth. The target price will be adjusted proportionally to reflect any stock splits. Resolution will be based on the historical price data as shown on Pyth after any adjustments have been applied. The resolution source for this market will be Pyth, specifically the "Close" values for the relevant 1-minute candle for Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) available at https://pythdata.app/explore/Equity.US.GOOGL%2FUSD.
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the official "Close" price for Google (GOOGL) on the trading day specified in the title is strictly higher than the price specified in the title. A "Close" exactly equal to the specified price resolves to "No". If the market is not open on the specified day (exchange holiday or unscheduled closure), or Google (GOOGL) does not trade at all during that day's regular session, this market resolves 50-50 — each side is paid at half value; this is not a refund. In the event of a stock split, reverse stock split, or similar corporate action affecting Google (GOOGL), this market resolves on split-adjusted prices, and the price specified in the title is adjusted proportionally. The resolution source for this market is Yahoo Finance, specifically the Google (GOOGL) "Close" prices available at https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/GOOGL/ under "Historical Prices". If that data is unavailable due to an outage or other technical disruption, the official price published by the primary exchange on which Google (GOOGL) trades governs.
Prediction market prices, like those found in this market, often reflect a 'wisdom of the crowd' that can be different from individual analyst forecasts. Analysts may have biases or specific methodologies, while prediction markets aggregate diverse opinions and incentivize accurate predictions. This market provides a real-time view of what traders believe, which can sometimes lead or lag behind traditional financial analysis. Comparing the implied probability from this market to consensus analyst ratings can offer a broader perspective on potential stock movement.
This market resolves around Nov 6, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final closing price of Google (GOOGL) stock on the last trading day of the week of November 2nd will determine the result. Traders will be able to see the verified closing price and the corresponding payout based on their predictions in this market. The outcome will be determined by publicly available financial data.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Major company announcements from Google, such as earnings reports or new product launches, would likely cause price fluctuations. Broader economic news, including interest rate decisions or inflation data, could also influence investor sentiment and affect the Google stock price. Unexpected geopolitical events or shifts in the technology sector could also move this market. Monitoring these signals and their potential impact on Google's stock performance is key to understanding potential shifts in the predictions reflected in this market.
