This set of markets tracks whether the GBPUSD exchange rate will exceed various thresholds at a specific future moment. Each market focuses on a different price level, allowing participants to assess the likelihood of the currency pair reaching or surpassing those levels by the expiration date and time.
All markets resolve based on the GBPUSD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 30, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate at that exact time is above the specified threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published at the exact time, and revisions to the underlying data after the expiration time are disregarded. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts frequently rely on economic models and geopolitical assessments, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, representing a diverse range of informed opinions. Discrepancies can arise due to differing interpretations of data or the inclusion of factors not typically considered in conventional analysis. It's important to note that this market is a forward-looking indicator, and its predictions may evolve as new information becomes available, potentially diverging from initial analyst expectations.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different possible outcomes for the GBPUSD exchange rate. The price of each contract reflects the market’s collective assessment of its probability. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders adjust their bids and asks based on their own analysis and expectations, creating a dynamic pricing mechanism. The more traders believe a particular outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding contract will be, and vice versa. This creates a real-time assessment of the potential movement of the GBPUSD exchange rate.
This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the GBPUSD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 30th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price will be sourced from a widely recognized financial data provider, ensuring an objective and transparent determination of the result. Traders will then be paid out based on whether their purchased contracts align with the actual GBPUSD exchange rate at the specified time. This allows for a clear and unambiguous settlement of this market.
Several key signals and events could significantly impact this market. Major macroeconomic data releases from the United Kingdom and the United States, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth rates, are likely to influence the GBPUSD exchange rate. Unexpected geopolitical events, shifts in central bank monetary policy (Bank of England and Federal Reserve), and significant changes in global risk sentiment could also cause substantial price movements. Any surprising news related to Brexit negotiations or major economic developments in either country could also drive activity in this market.
