This set of markets tracks whether the GBPUSD exchange rate will exceed various thresholds at a specific future moment. Each market corresponds to a different price level, resolving based on the opening candlestick value at the exact expiration time.
All markets resolve based on the GBPUSD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 23, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate at that precise moment is above the specified threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published exactly at 5pm ET. Post-expiration revisions to the exchange rate are disregarded, and all values are rounded to four decimal places for determination. This consistent framework applies uniformly across all threshold-based markets in the set.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts frequently rely on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a broader range of information and potential unforeseen events. Discrepancies can arise from differing assumptions about geopolitical risks, central bank policy, or unexpected economic data releases. It’s common to see this market anticipate shifts in sentiment before they are fully reflected in consensus analyst expectations, offering a potentially valuable alternative view.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, where traders bid and ask on contracts representing different price ranges for GBPUSD. The price of each contract reflects the market’s collective assessment of the probability of the actual GBPUSD price falling within that range at the specified time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded with financial gains. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date information available.
This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will settle based on the GBPUSD exchange rate as reported by a widely recognized financial data provider at 5:00 PM EDT on October 23rd. The contract corresponding to the price range that includes the actual exchange rate at that time will pay out, while all other contracts will expire worthless. The final price will be determined by publicly available data, ensuring a transparent and objective resolution process.
Several key signals and events could significantly impact this market. Major macroeconomic data releases from the United Kingdom and the United States, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth, are likely to cause volatility. Unexpected announcements from the Bank of England or the Federal Reserve regarding monetary policy could also trigger substantial price movements. Geopolitical events, including shifts in global trade relations or political instability, could further influence the GBPUSD exchange rate. Any news that alters expectations about the relative strength of the British and American economies has the potential to move this market.
