This market will resolve to "Up" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Monday, October 26, 2026 is higher than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Monday, October 26, 2026 is lower than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If UKX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by FTSE 100 Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Comparing prediction market odds to analyst forecasts reveals interesting insights into collective intelligence. Often, this market reflects a different perspective than traditional polls or expert opinions. While analysts may offer specific price targets or directional guidance, the prediction market aggregates the views of a diverse group of traders, each with their own research and risk tolerance. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access, biases, or simply a broader range of considered factors influencing the market's assessment of the FTSE 100's future direction.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the FTSE 100's direction. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares indicating an expectation of an increase, the price rises, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading volume influence the price discovery process, providing a dynamic and real-time assessment of market sentiment regarding the FTSE 100.
This market resolves around Oct 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the closing price of the FTSE 100 index on October 26th will determine whether the 'Up' or 'Down' outcome is declared. The resolution will be based on publicly available data from a recognized financial data provider. Traders will be able to view the final settlement details on Polymarket after the official close of trading on that day.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 26, 2026.
