Description

On September 30, 2026, FlyDubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv diverted to Saudi Arabia following an incident in the cockpit in which the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain. The co-pilot was taken into custody in Saudi Arabia (see: https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/diverted-flydubai-flight-israel-was-not-hijacking-incident-israeli-prime-2026-09-30/). This market will resolve to “Yes” if the referenced co-pilot is transported to Israeli custody within the territory of Israel between market creation and October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. The co-pilot must actually enter Israeli territory for this market to resolve to “Yes.” Announcements or statements of intent will not qualify. The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the governments of Saudi Arabia and Israel; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Frequently asked questions

Currently, this market suggests a very high probability that the FlyDubai co-pilot will be transferred to Israel by October 31. This contrasts with initial reports and public speculation, which were less certain about the outcome. While direct polling data on this specific event is limited, the strong conviction expressed in this market indicates a significant divergence from broader public opinion. It’s important to remember that prediction markets aggregate informed opinions and allow traders to express their beliefs with real capital, potentially offering a more accurate forecast than simple polls.

This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether verifiable evidence confirms the FlyDubai co-pilot’s transfer to Israel before the specified date. Any official announcements from FlyDubai, Israeli authorities, or reputable news sources will be considered. The market will settle to 100% if the transfer occurs, and 0% if it does not, based on publicly available information at the time of resolution.

Several signals could influence this market. Official statements from FlyDubai or the Israeli government regarding the co-pilot’s status would be a major catalyst. Any legal developments impacting the transfer, such as changes in regulations or court rulings, could also shift the odds. Unexpected geopolitical events or diplomatic shifts between the UAE and Israel might also play a role. Finally, credible reports from investigative journalists or aviation experts could move the market, particularly if they reveal new information about the transfer process or potential obstacles.
