On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each candidate’s chance of winning. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares purchased for a particular candidate, the higher the price rises, reflecting increased confidence in their victory. This dynamic pricing ensures the market aggregates the collective wisdom of participants, providing a real-time assessment of the election’s potential outcome.
This market resolves around Oct 28, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The candidate declared the winner by official election authorities will determine the resolution of this market. The platform will rely on publicly available results from the Derwent Valley Council to establish the winning candidate, ensuring a transparent and verifiable process. Trading will cease once the official results are announced and verified, and shares will be settled accordingly.
Several factors could significantly influence this market leading up to Oct 28, 2026. Major endorsements from influential figures, unexpected policy announcements from candidates, and shifts in media coverage could all cause price fluctuations. Debates and public forums offer opportunities for candidates to sway voters, potentially impacting trading activity. Furthermore, any significant news regarding candidate finances or personal matters could also move the market. Unexpected events, such as a major local issue emerging, could also reshape voter sentiment and affect the odds.
