This event tracks the spot price of a specific DDR5 memory module on a set date, reflecting potential market trends in semiconductor pricing. The outcome depends on whether the price meets or exceeds various thresholds, offering insights into supply, demand, and economic factors affecting memory costs.
All markets resolve based on the DDR5 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 spot price at 4 PM ET on October 16, 2026, as reported by Ornn. If Ornn does not publish data for that exact time, the most recent available data prior to the expiration will be used. Post-expiration revisions to the underlying price are disregarded. All resolutions use the USD iteration of the index, with values rounded to two decimal places. Each market has a distinct threshold; resolution is "Yes" if the spot price is at or above the specified threshold, otherwise "No".
Comparing prediction market odds to analyst forecasts reveals interesting insights into collective intelligence. Often, this market reflects a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, potentially incorporating information not readily available to traditional analysts. While analyst forecasts provide expert opinions, the dynamic pricing in this market adjusts continuously based on new information and trader sentiment. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when unforeseen events impact the underlying factors influencing DDR5 memory prices. Examining these differences can highlight areas where the market anticipates changes that analysts haven’t yet factored into their predictions.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the price of DDR5 memory on October 16th. The current price reflects the highest price a buyer is willing to pay and the lowest price a seller is willing to accept. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means the price fluctuates in real-time based on supply and demand, driven by traders’ expectations. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price converges toward a consensus estimate of the eventual outcome. The market’s depth and liquidity are also visible on the dashboard.
This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the average price of 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 DDR5 memory as reported by a designated data source. This ensures an objective and transparent determination of the result. Traders will then be paid out based on whether their predictions aligned with the final verified price. The market’s settlement is designed to be impartial and reflective of the actual market conditions at the specified time.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market. Changes in the supply of DDR5 memory, such as production disruptions at major manufacturers, would likely impact prices. Demand-side factors, including PC and server sales, and the overall economic climate, also play a crucial role. Unexpected announcements regarding new technologies or industry standards related to memory could also cause fluctuations. Geopolitical events impacting supply chains or raw material costs are further potential catalysts. Monitoring news related to these areas will be key to understanding potential shifts in this market before Oct 16, 2026.
