Resolves Nov 27, 2026
$
This event tracks the spot price of a specific type of computer memory module on a particular date. The outcome depends on whether the price meets or exceeds certain thresholds, reflecting market expectations about supply, demand, and technological trends in the semiconductor industry.
All markets resolve based on the DDR5 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 spot price at 4 PM ET on November 27, 2026, as reported by Ornn. If Ornn does not publish data for that exact time, the most recent available data prior to the expiration time will be used. Post-expiration revisions to the underlying price data will not affect resolution. All prices are considered in USD and rounded to two decimal places. Each market has a unique threshold price; if the spot price is above the specified threshold, the market resolves to Yes, otherwise No.
Comparing prediction market odds to analyst forecasts reveals how collective intelligence stacks up against expert opinion. Currently, this market reflects the wisdom of the crowd regarding the price of DDR5 memory. While analyst reports often provide specific price targets, they can be subject to individual biases or limited data sets. The price indicated by this market represents a dynamic consensus, updated in real-time as new information becomes available and traders adjust their positions. It’s a useful exercise to see if the market’s expectation aligns with, or diverges from, prevailing analyst estimates for memory pricing trends.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the price of DDR5 memory on November 27th. The current price reflects the highest price a buyer is willing to pay and the lowest price a seller is willing to accept. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means that the price fluctuates based on supply and demand, driven by the collective actions of all participants. As more traders enter the market with differing opinions, the price converges towards what the crowd believes is the most likely outcome. The market’s depth and liquidity are also visible on the dashboard.
This market resolves around Nov 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price of 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 DDR5 memory on November 27th (Week 48) will be sourced from a widely recognized and publicly available price index. The market will then settle to the value of that index at the close of business on that date. Traders holding contracts will be paid out or required to pay based on whether their prediction aligns with the final reported price.
Several factors could influence the price of DDR5 memory and, consequently, move this market. Major announcements from leading memory manufacturers like Samsung, SK Hynix, or Micron regarding production cuts or expansions would be significant. Changes in demand from major computer and server manufacturers, driven by economic conditions or new product launches, could also have a substantial impact. Geopolitical events affecting supply chains, or unexpected shifts in the cost of raw materials used in memory production, are additional catalysts to watch. Overall trends in the PC and server markets will likely be key drivers of price movement in this market.
