This event tracks the spot price of a specific type of computer memory module on a particular date, resolving based on whether the price exceeds various thresholds. It reflects market expectations for technology pricing trends in the consumer electronics sector.
All markets resolve based on the DDR5 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 spot price as reported by Ornn at 4 PM ET on November 6, 2026. Each market has a distinct price threshold, and resolves to Yes if the spot price exceeds that threshold at the specified time. If Ornn does not publish data for the exact date and time, the most recently available published data will be used for resolution. Post-expiration revisions to the underlying data are disregarded, and all valuations use the USD iteration of the index, rounded to two decimal places.
Currently, it’s difficult to directly compare the odds in this market to specific analyst forecasts, as those forecasts aren't centrally tracked. However, the collective wisdom of traders on Kalshi represents a forward-looking assessment of the likely price of DDR5 memory. If analysts generally predict stable or increasing memory prices, we might expect to see higher probabilities assigned to the ‘above $60’ outcome in this market. Conversely, bearish analyst expectations could translate to lower probabilities. It's important to note that prediction markets reflect real-time information and changing sentiment, potentially differing from static analyst reports.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the DDR5 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 spot price will be above $60 at 4 PM ET on November 6th. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of these contracts reflects the probability of that outcome, with higher prices indicating a greater perceived chance of the price being above $60. Traders can set their own buy and sell orders, and the market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand. This creates a real-time estimate of market expectations.
This market resolves around Nov 6, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the spot price of DDR5 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 will be checked at 4 PM ET on November 6th. If the price is above $60 at that time, contracts predicting ‘above $60’ will pay out $1 per contract. If the price is at or below $60, those contracts will be worth $0. The resolution will be based on a publicly available and verifiable price feed, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
Several factors could influence the price of DDR5 memory and, consequently, move this market. Major announcements from memory manufacturers like Micron, Samsung, or SK Hynix regarding production levels or pricing strategies could have a significant impact. Unexpected disruptions in the supply chain, perhaps due to geopolitical events or natural disasters, could also drive prices higher. Furthermore, changes in demand driven by the PC market, data center build-outs, or the adoption of new technologies requiring DDR5 memory could shift trader sentiment and alter the odds in this market.
