A presidential election was held in Brazil on October 4, 2026, and a runoff is scheduled to take place on October 25, 2026. This market will resolve to "Yes" if any candidate receives 60,346,000 or more valid votes in the second round of the 2026 Brazilian presidential election, breaking the record for the most votes ever received by a candidate in a Brazilian presidential election. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The current record is 60,345,999 votes, received by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the second round of the 2022 Brazilian presidential election. Exactly 60,345,999 votes would tie, not break, the record and would resolve this market to "No". This market will resolve based on the official vote count. If a recount is initiated before the vote total has been made official, the market will remain open until the recount is completed and the vote is made official. If the result of this election isn’t known definitively by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". This market will resolve based on the result of the election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Brazilian government, including the Superior Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, TSE) (e.g., https://dadosabertos.tse.jus.br/).

Currently, the odds in this market suggest a high probability that a candidate will achieve the highest vote share ever recorded in the Brazil presidential election second round. This contrasts with some polling averages, which show a closer race. It’s important to remember that prediction markets reflect not just who people *say* they will vote for, but who they are willing to put money on. This difference can be attributed to factors like informed traders, the ability to update beliefs quickly, and the incentive to be accurate in order to profit from correct predictions.
This market resolves around Oct 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official vote count released by the relevant Brazilian electoral authorities. The market will determine whether any candidate surpasses the previous record for the highest number of votes received in a second-round presidential election in Brazil. The final outcome will be determined by the official results, and shares will be settled accordingly based on whether the condition is met.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Major shifts in polling data, particularly if they indicate a landslide victory for a candidate, would likely move the odds. Unexpected endorsements from influential political figures or significant economic events in Brazil could also play a role. Furthermore, any controversies or scandals involving the candidates could influence voter sentiment and, consequently, the market price. Finally, any news regarding voter turnout or potential irregularities in the election process could also cause fluctuations in this market before its resolution.
