This set of markets tracks the performance of the Australian Dollar against the US Dollar at a specific future date and time. Each market will resolve based on whether the exchange rate meets or exceeds a particular threshold, providing a snapshot of currency value expectations.
All markets resolve based on the AUDUSD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 16, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate is above the specified threshold at that exact time, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published at the exact time, and revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, it's important to note that prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may base their predictions on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sets, risk appetites, or simply varying interpretations of the same data. It’s common to see this market diverge from consensus expectations, particularly when unexpected events or 'black swan' scenarios are anticipated.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders can buy and sell contracts representing different potential AUDUSD exchange rates. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective belief of traders about the most likely outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows for real-time adjustments as new information becomes available, and provides a transparent view of market sentiment. The current contracts available cover a range of potential exchange rates around the settlement date.
This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the AUDUSD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 16th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price will be sourced from a widely recognized financial data provider. The contract corresponding to the actual exchange rate at that time will pay out $1.00, while all other contracts will expire worthless. Traders should monitor the market closely as the resolution date approaches to adjust their positions accordingly.
Several factors could significantly impact the AUDUSD exchange rate and, consequently, this market. Major economic data releases from both Australia and the United States, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth, are key catalysts. Unexpected policy announcements from the Reserve Bank of Australia or the Federal Reserve could also trigger substantial price movements. Geopolitical events, shifts in global risk sentiment, and even significant changes in commodity prices can all influence the AUDUSD exchange rate and affect trading activity in this market.
