This event group concerns the outcome of the 2026 Alaska U.S. House of Representatives election. Markets exist on both Polymarket and Kalshi, focusing on party affiliation and individual candidate wins. Resolution will depend on official election results or candidate affiliations.
This market will resolve according to the party of the candidate who wins the AK-AL congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026. A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources, except if that candidate is a listed option. Candidates who are listed options will not be considered to represent any party for purposes of this market, regardless of any subsequent caucus decision. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).

Prediction market odds often offer a different perspective than traditional polling averages. Polls capture stated preferences at a single point in time, while this market reflects what individuals are willing to *risk* on an outcome. This can lead to prediction markets being more accurate, as they incorporate a broader range of information and incentives. While polls may show a certain level of support, the market prices in factors like voter turnout, late-breaking news, and strategic considerations, giving a more nuanced view of the race. The 4.5 difference between current market probabilities and recent polls can be insightful.
Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Each platform has its own user base, trading dynamics, and liquidity. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Different risk appetites and information access among traders on each platform can also contribute to price discrepancies. Currently, Polymarket currently favors Will the Republican Party win the AK-AL House seat? at 79.5%, while Kalshi leans toward Who will win Alaska U.S. House of Representatives election? at 84.0%. These differences aren’t necessarily contradictions, but rather reflect the diverse perspectives within the prediction market ecosystem.
This market resolves around Nov 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which candidate is officially declared the winner of the Alaska House election by the relevant election authorities. The final result will be determined by the official vote count and any subsequent recounts or legal challenges, as reported by trusted news sources and government websites. This market provides a way to forecast this outcome before it is officially known.
Several events could significantly impact this market. Major endorsements, unexpected campaign finance disclosures, or significant shifts in polling data could all cause traders to reassess their predictions. Any unforeseen events affecting the candidates, such as scandals or health issues, would likely lead to price adjustments. Additionally, external factors like national political trends or changes in voter demographics could influence the market. Monitoring news coverage and paying attention to these signals can help understand potential movements in the probabilities offered by this market.
