Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. This can lead to prediction market odds being more accurate, particularly as more information becomes available and the event approaches. However, sportsbook odds may react more quickly to breaking news or late-stage developments, while this market’s price discovery is driven by trader behavior.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined entirely by supply and demand, with traders adjusting their positions based on new information and their own analysis. This creates a dynamic and real-time assessment of the likelihood of each possible result.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategies, or unexpected performance in preceding matches could shift trader sentiment. Publicly available analysis from tennis experts, shifts in betting odds at sportsbooks, and even social media discussions could also play a role. Major upsets in other related tournaments or changes in weather conditions at the event location are also potential catalysts. These signals can all contribute to changes in the perceived probability of each player winning, impacting trading activity and the market price.
