Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market’s odds are driven by actual money being wagered. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access, biases, or simply variations in opinion. It’s common to see prediction markets move more efficiently in response to new information, as traders rapidly adjust their positions. Examining both sources can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the expected outcome.

The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading activity influence the price discovery process, and the current price reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants. The total volume traded provides insight into the market’s confidence level.
