Resolves Sep 30, 2026

S&P 500 (SPY) closes above ___ on August 24?
S&P 500 (SPY) closes above ___ on August 24?
A company resolves to Yes if it is announced to be or officially added to the S&P 500 between July 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026. Resolution occurs upon whichever happens first: the index administrator's official announcement of the membership change or the change taking effect. The effective date of the addition need not fall within the specified time period; only the announcement or implementation must occur during Q3 2026. Temporary suspensions do not constitute removal unless explicitly designated as permanent by the index administrator. If an announced addition is subsequently reversed due to error within the time period, the Exchange will determine resolution at its discretion. For companies undergoing mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring, removal from the index due to such corporate actions constitutes removal for purposes of this market. If a spin-off or successor entity is immediately added in place of the original company, the original company is still considered removed. Regular scheduled rebalancing events count as additions or removals if the company's membership status changes during such rebalancing.
On Polymarket, odds reflect collective trader sentiment and can diverge from traditional analyst forecasts. Analysts often weigh earnings, economic data, and Fed policy, while prediction markets incorporate all publicly available information and trader psychology in real time. This market’s current pricing may therefore appear more bullish or bearish than consensus analyst targets, depending on recent market moves and investor sentiment. Comparing both sources helps identify potential mispricings or emerging trends.
This market resolves around Sep 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. On the specified date, the final S&P 500 closing value will be checked against the target level, and the market will settle based on whether the price ended above or below that mark. No further interpretation is needed — the result is binary and straightforward once official market data is released.
Key events such as Federal Reserve announcements, major earnings reports from large S&P 500 constituents, unexpected macroeconomic data (like inflation or jobs figures), and geopolitical developments could shift this market. Sudden intraday volatility or sector-specific news may also influence trader sentiment. Keeping an eye on central bank policies and broad market trends will help anticipate potential swings in odds as August 24 approaches.
