Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to reflect the true probability of an event occurring. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust based on new information and diverse opinions, potentially offering more accurate probabilities as the event approaches. It's worth comparing both to get a comprehensive view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to new information and the collective sentiment of traders participating in this market.

Any news regarding player injuries, changes in playing conditions (like weather), or updates on their recent performance could all shift trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements about player strategies or coaching changes might also play a role.
