Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their view. Discrepancies can arise from differing information, analytical approaches, or even behavioral biases. If significant differences exist, opportunities for arbitrage may emerge, as traders attempt to profit from the mispricing between the two. However, it’s important to note that both represent probabilities of an outcome, but are derived through different mechanisms.
