Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, all of which influence how prices settle. Polymarket and Kalshi may also have slightly different market designs or participant risk tolerances. These differences create natural arbitrage opportunities; savvy traders monitor both to identify mispricings. Over time, as more capital flows to the better-priced side, the gap typically narrows, but temporary divergences are normal and expected.
Key catalysts include injury announcements to star players, lineup changes, recent team performance streaks, and head-to-head historical trends. Weather conditions on game day, home-field advantage dynamics, and any roster adjustments closer to kickoff can shift trader sentiment. Media coverage and expert analysis may also influence positioning. Real-time updates during pre-game warm-ups and early innings often trigger sharp repricing, so active traders monitor social feeds and sports news feeds closely for edge.
