This event group covers a single NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) matchup between the Hanshin Tigers and Yokohama BayStars scheduled for July 21, 2026 at 5:00 AM EDT. Both Polymarket and Kalshi have created prediction markets on the outcome of this game, with slightly different resolution mechanics.
In the upcoming NPB game, scheduled for July 21 at 5:00AM ET: If the Hanshin Tigers win, the market will resolve to "Hanshin Tigers". If the Yokohama BayStars win, the market will resolve to "Yokohama BayStars". If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, or ends in a tie, this market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source will be official information from the NPB. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Resolution is based on the final result of the Yokohama DeNA BayStars vs Hanshin Tigers Japan NPB game originally scheduled for July 21, 2026 at 5:00 AM EDT. If the game is postponed or delayed, the market remains open and closes after the rescheduled game concludes within two days. Should the game be cancelled or rescheduled beyond two days, the market resolves to a fair price per established rules. In the event of a tie, the market resolves to 50/50.
Prediction markets and traditional sportsbooks price outcomes using different mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets rely on continuous trading among participants to discover prices. This market reflects real-time consensus from traders willing to stake capital on their forecasts, often incorporating information faster than sportsbooks adjust their lines. Prediction market prices tend to be more efficient at incorporating late-breaking news, injury reports, or lineup changes. However, sportsbook odds may include sharper professional action and tighter margins, making direct comparison useful for identifying where the two systems diverge most.
Key injury announcements, roster changes, or managerial decisions can shift prices significantly. Recent team performance, head-to-head records, and momentum heading into the matchup all influence trader sentiment. Weather conditions or venue factors may also matter for baseball outcomes. Major trades or unexpected lineup news typically trigger sharp repricing across both platforms. Social media trends and expert commentary can amplify or dampen conviction among retail traders. Volume spikes often precede or follow significant news, so watching trading activity alongside price movement helps identify when the market is reacting to new information versus routine fluctuation.
