Polymarket

This market refers to the Dota 2 match between Virtus.pro and 1win in the Esports World Cup Group D, initially scheduled for July 8 at 12:30PM ET. This market will resolve to "Virtus.pro" if Virtus.pro win the match against 1win. This market will resolve to "1win" if 1win win the match against Virtus.pro. If the match is canceled (not played at all), ends in a tie, or is delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without a winner determined, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://www.dotabuff.com. However, if https://www.dotabuff.com has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Virtus.pro vs 1win Esports World Cup match displays real-time odds and historical price movements as traders buy and sell shares tied to potential outcomes. You can monitor current implied probabilities, 24-hour trading volume, and order-book depth to gauge market sentiment around this best-of-two matchup in Group D. The interface lets you track how odds shift as new information about team performance, roster changes, or pre-match analysis emerges, giving you a live window into crowd-sourced expectations for the event.

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different pricing mechanisms. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and extract a margin, while prediction markets like this one are priced by traders seeking profit, creating a more dynamic, crowd-sourced valuation. Prediction markets can sometimes offer sharper or faster-moving odds, especially for niche esports events where sportsbook liquidity is thin. Comparing this market's implied probabilities to major esports betting sites can reveal where consensus differs and highlight potential value.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker (AMM) system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome's price reflects the collective belief of all active traders, with spreads tightening as volume increases and widening during low-liquidity periods. The cost to buy a share rises as demand for that outcome grows, and vice versa, creating continuous price discovery. This mechanism ensures that this market's odds update in real time as new information about team form, injuries, or strategic developments becomes available.

This market resolves around Jul 9, 2026, once the Dota 2 best-of-two match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome will be confirmed based on the official match result reported by Esports World Cup organizers and major esports news outlets. Until that point, traders can continue to buy and sell shares as odds fluctuate with team news, scrim results, and community analysis. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final game's conclusion.

Key catalysts include roster announcements or last-minute player substitutions, recent tournament performance by either team, patch updates to Dota 2 that shift the meta, and injury or availability news. Pre-match interviews, coach statements, and scrim results often influence trader sentiment in the hours before competition. Community analysis, betting syndicates, and esports analysts publishing predictions can also trigger sharp price moves. Additionally, live in-game developments during the first match of the best-of-two will likely cause significant repricing before the second game begins.
