This market refers to the Dota 2 match between LGD Gaming and 1win in the Esports World Cup Group D, initially scheduled for July 9 at 12:30PM ET. This market will resolve to "LGD Gaming" if LGD Gaming win the match against 1win. This market will resolve to "1win" if 1win win the match against LGD Gaming. If the match is canceled (not played at all), ends in a tie, or is delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without a winner determined, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://www.dotabuff.com. However, if https://www.dotabuff.com has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.
Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different pricing mechanisms. Sportsbooks set lines based on professional oddsmakers' models and manage risk through margin, while prediction markets like this one are priced by traders themselves, incorporating real-time information and crowd wisdom. Esports prediction markets may show sharper or more volatile odds swings around roster announcements, patch updates, or recent tournament results. Comparing this market's odds to major esports betting sites can reveal where the crowd sees edge or where consensus is strongest, though prediction markets typically update faster as new information emerges.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker (AMM) system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract—such as the probability that both teams destroy barracks—floats based on supply and demand, with the current price reflecting the aggregate belief of all active traders. As new information surfaces or match conditions change, traders adjust their positions, moving the odds in real time. The more capital flowing into a particular outcome, the higher its price climbs, and vice versa, creating a continuous price discovery mechanism throughout the event window.
This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, once the match concludes and the outcome is verifiable from credible public sources. The specific result—whether it concerns game wins, barracks destruction, or other in-game events—will be confirmed based on official tournament records and broadcast data. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final game, allowing traders to settle their positions. Until that point, odds will continue to shift as the match unfolds and new information becomes available to the market.
Several catalysts could shift odds before the match concludes. Last-minute roster changes, player substitutions, or unexpected bans in the draft phase often trigger sharp repricing as traders adjust for new strategic conditions. In-game momentum swings—such as an early teamfight victory or a crucial objective taken—typically drive large price movements. Patch updates or meta shifts in the weeks leading up to the event can also reshape expectations around team strengths. Real-time commentary and analyst reactions during the broadcast frequently influence trader sentiment, causing rapid bid-ask adjustments as the community reassesses win probabilities.
