Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, and can sometimes differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market relies on the incentives of traders who are financially motivated to accurately predict the outcome. If there's a significant difference, it may indicate that the market believes the sportsbook has mispriced the probability of a particular outcome. It’s common to see convergence as the event approaches, but discrepancies can present opportunities for informed traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. The market’s price isn't determined by a central authority but emerges from the interactions of buyers and sellers, creating a dynamic and potentially more accurate forecast than traditional methods.
This market resolves around Oct 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the result will be determined by the official result reported by the tournament organizers of the China Open. The winner of the match between Elvina Kalieva and Ellen Perez will be the determining factor for settlement. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome will be paid out based on the final market price at resolution, while those who predicted incorrectly will forfeit their shares.
