Description

In the upcoming AHL game, scheduled for April 18 at 9:00PM ET: If Coachella Valley Firebirds win, the market will resolve to "Coachella Valley Firebirds". If San Diego Gulls win, the market will resolve to "San Diego Gulls". If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, this market will resolve 50-50. The result will be determined based on the final score including any overtime periods and shootouts. In the event of a shootout, one goal will be added to the winning team's score for the purpose of resolution.

Divergence Detected

Issue:

Kalshi's resolution logic is logically contradictory and unresolvable: it states the market resolves YES if EITHER team wins, making it impossible for the market to ever resolve NO. This violates fundamental binary market structure.

Hero Tip:

Do not trade the Kalshi market. The resolution rule is broken—it resolves YES regardless of outcome. Polymarket's logic is sound: bet there with confidence that one team will win and the other will lose, with clear 50-50 or postponement/cancellation edge cases handled properly.

Critical Divergence Points:

  • Polymarket: Binary winner-take-all structure. Resolves to 'Coachella Valley Firebirds' if they win, 'San Diego Gulls' if they win. Postponement keeps market open; cancellation with no makeup resolves 50-50. Result includes overtime and shootouts (shootout winner gets +1 goal added). This is logically sound.
  • Kalshi: Logically broken. States: 'If Coachella Valley Firebirds wins...then resolves to Yes' AND 'If San Diego Gulls wins...then resolves to Yes.' Both outcomes map to YES, leaving no path to NO resolution. Quote: 'If Coachella Valley Firebirds wins...resolves to Yes. If San Diego Gulls wins...resolves to Yes.' This is a data integrity failure.
