Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. If a significant discrepancy exists between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook is mispricing the event. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different methodologies and information sources, and neither is guaranteed to be accurate.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, increased selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities in real-time, providing a constantly updated forecast for the Zozulia vs. Holoborodko match.
