Prediction market odds often differ from traditional sportsbook lines because they reflect aggregated trader sentiment rather than set bookmaker probabilities. In this market, the crowd-sourced price may show sharper movements around key news or analyst updates. Traders can use this contrast to spot potential value gaps, as prediction markets sometimes price in nuances faster than sportsbooks adjust their lines.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, traders set the odds through direct buying and selling of contracts, which determines the current implied probability. The top outcome’s chance reflects the collective view of all participants, updated instantly with each new trade. This decentralized pricing mechanism allows rapid adjustments based on emerging insights or shifts in trader confidence.
