This group forecasts the outcome of a single NPB (Japanese Professional Baseball) game between the Yokohama BayStars and the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. The market resolves based on which team wins the game, with a potential 50-50 split if the game is canceled or ends in a tie.
In the upcoming NPB game, scheduled for September 8 at 5:00AM ET: If the Yokohama BayStars win, the market will resolve to "Yokohama BayStars". If the Tokyo Yakult Swallows win, the market will resolve to "Tokyo Yakult Swallows". If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, or ends in a tie, this market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source will be official information from the NPB. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
The market resolves based on the result of the Yokohama DeNA BayStars vs Yomiuri Giants Japan NPB game originally scheduled for September 2, 2026, at 5:00 AM EDT. If Yokohama DeNA BayStars wins, their market resolves to Yes, and the Yomiuri Giants’ market resolves to No, and vice versa. If the game is postponed or delayed but played within two days of the original date, the market remains open and resolves after the conclusion of the rescheduled game. If the game is cancelled or rescheduled to more than two days after the original date, the market resolves to a fair price. In the event of a tie, both markets resolve at a 50/50 split. Prediction market odds, like those found in this market, often reflect a different kind of wisdom than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while prediction markets are driven by individuals betting with their own capital. This can lead to differences in probabilities, as prediction markets can sometimes be more efficient at incorporating diverse information and identifying mispriced outcomes. However, both types of odds provide valuable insights into the perceived likelihood of different results, and discrepancies can present arbitrage opportunities for informed traders.
