Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action, while this market is driven by individuals directly expressing their beliefs about the most likely outcome. If a significant number of people believe a particular score is more probable than sportsbooks suggest, the price for that outcome will decrease, indicating a higher implied probability. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of money has been wagered on either side.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts, providing a dynamic assessment of the likely result. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s efficiency depends on the number of participants and the information they incorporate into their trading decisions, leading to a constantly updated probability distribution for the final score.
