This event group tracks the stage at which South Korea is eliminated from the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup, or whether they win the tournament. Both platforms offer markets on specific elimination stages (Group Stage, Round of 32, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Final) as well as championship victory, with resolution tied to official FIFA tournament outcomes.
This market will resolve according to the stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at which South Korea is eliminated. If South Korea wins the tournament, this market will resolve to 'Champion'. If South Korea is disqualified, withdraws, is removed from the tournament, or the tournament is partially completed and not finished for any reason, this market will resolve according to the furthest completed round reached by South Korea based on the best available official information. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled in full, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to 'Other'. The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Each market tracks Korea Republic's elimination at a specific stage of the 2026 Men's FIFA World Cup, with one market also covering an outright tournament victory. A team's stage of elimination is determined by the farthest stage they reached prior to any withdrawal, forfeit, or disqualification. For example, if a team withdraws after winning a Round of 32 match, the Round of 16 market resolves to Yes, representing the next stage where they would have competed. A team that loses in the Semifinals resolves the Semifinals market to Yes regardless of third-place match results. The Group Stage market resolves to Yes if the team fails to advance from group play. The Round of 32, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals markets each resolve to Yes if the team is eliminated at those respective stages. The Runner-Up market resolves to Yes if Korea Republic loses the Final. The Outright Winner market resolves to Yes only if Korea Republic wins the Final.
Prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi typically reflect real-time crowd sentiment and are updated continuously as new information emerges, whereas traditional sportsbooks adjust odds less frequently and incorporate built-in margins. For World Cup elimination stage events, prediction markets often price in granular outcome specificity—such as exact elimination round—that sportsbooks may not offer. Prediction market odds tend to be sharper and more efficient in the days leading up to tournament play, especially as team lineups, injuries, and bracket positioning become clearer. Direct numerical comparison requires checking both venues simultaneously, as this event spans multiple platforms.
Key catalysts include South Korea's qualifying performance and final seeding in the 2026 draw, which determines group composition and bracket difficulty. Squad announcements, injuries to star players, and coaching changes will shift perceived elimination risk. Pre-tournament friendlies and form heading into June 2026 influence market pricing. During the tournament itself, group-stage results, goal differential, and head-to-head outcomes directly impact advancement odds. Unexpected upsets or dominant performances by South Korea or rival nations will trigger rapid repricing. Media narratives around team chemistry and tactical adjustments also influence trader sentiment and order flow on both Polymarket and Kalshi.
