This market will resolve to “Yes” if the total number of matches affected by the adverse-weather protocol during the 2026 FIFA World Cup equals or exceeds the listed number. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A match is counted if it is officially halted under the adverse-weather protocol, or postponed or rescheduled prior to kickoff due to weather. Each affected match counts once. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is shortened, truncated, or ends early for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available official data for completed matches. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or the exact total cannot be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “No”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds serve different purposes. Sportsbooks typically focus on betting outcomes with fixed spreads and house margins, while prediction markets like this one aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. This market reflects decentralized consensus on weather-related match suspensions, which sportsbooks rarely offer as a standalone betting product. Prediction market pricing tends to be more responsive to emerging information and less constrained by traditional risk management, making it a distinct signal compared to conventional sports betting lines.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker mechanism where buying and selling pressure directly moves the price. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The leading outcome currently reflects trader conviction about the likelihood of weather-suspended matches during the tournament. As new developments emerge—such as climate forecasts, venue conditions, or FIFA announcements—traders adjust their positions, and the price updates in real time to reflect the evolving probability. Liquidity and trading volume influence how quickly prices respond to new information.
This market resolves around Jul 20, 2026, once the 2026 FIFA World Cup concludes and the final tally of weather-suspended matches is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by counting all matches officially postponed or cancelled due to weather protocol enforcement during the tournament. Resolution depends on official FIFA records and independent sports news sources confirming the total number of suspensions. Traders should monitor tournament coverage and official announcements as the event unfolds to anticipate the final count.
Several factors could shift odds significantly. Climate forecasts and seasonal weather patterns for the 2026 World Cup host region will influence expectations of severe weather risk. FIFA announcements regarding weather protocol enforcement or venue infrastructure upgrades could alter perceived suspension likelihood. Historical weather data from previous tournaments and the specific geographic locations of matches matter as well. Real-time tournament conditions—actual weather events, match delays, or cancellations early in the competition—will drive rapid repricing as traders update their forecasts based on observed outcomes rather than speculation alone.
