Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds on Polymarket often diverge from traditional sportsbook lines because they reflect real-time trader sentiment rather than bookmaker margins. Sportsbooks typically build in a 4–5% edge and adjust lines to balance liability, while prediction markets aggregate decentralized bets with minimal overhead. For Group F last place, the prediction market may price Sweden's chances differently than major sportsbooks due to the depth of retail vs. professional trading activity. Comparing both sources reveals whether the crowd or professional oddsmakers view the outcome differently, offering arbitrage insight for sharp bettors.

The market resolves on Jul 20, 2026, after all group-stage matches in Group F have concluded. The outcome is determined by the official FIFA 2026 World Cup final group standings. The team with the lowest points total—calculated by wins, draws, and losses across three matches—finishes last. If two or more teams are tied on points, FIFA tiebreakers (goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head record) apply. Once the final standings are confirmed by FIFA, the corresponding last-place contract settles to 1 USD and all others to 0 USD.

Key catalysts include injury announcements to star players on Sweden, Serbia, Spain, or Italy; coaching changes or tactical shifts; and qualifying-round performance by other nations that signal group strength. Friendly match results in 2025–2026 will influence trader confidence in each team's form. Media narratives around squad depth, recent tournament results, and head-to-head history also drive price swings. As the World Cup approaches, each team's official squad announcement and pre-tournament friendlies become major price movers. Real-time odds will tighten as match day approaches and uncertainty resolves.
