Description

These markets determine which WNBA player will lead the league in points per game (PPG) during the 2026 regular season. Kalshi offers 30 individual binary markets on named players, while Polymarket offers a combination of named-player markets, placeholder markets (Player A-O), and an 'Other' catch-all. Both resolve based on official WNBA statistics.

PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Unified Resolution Criteria (Consistent across platforms)

Both platforms measure the same outcome—the 2026 WNBA PPG leader—using identical official WNBA data and apply consistent tie-breaking rules (games played, then alphabetical last name). The primary divergence is structural: Kalshi uses 30 binary markets on named players only, while Polymarket includes placeholder markets and an explicit 'Other' option for unqualified or non-listed players.Primary resolution logic: WNBA official statistics database at https://stats.wnba.com/players/traditional/

Core resolution logic:

  • The player with the highest points per game average during the 2026 WNBA regular season is the winner.
  • Qualification follows WNBA official leaderboard rules (minimum games/statistical thresholds as defined by the league).
  • In case of a tie in PPG, the player who appeared in more games wins.
  • If tied players also have the same number of games, the player whose last name comes first alphabetically wins.
  • Resolution occurs after the 2026 regular season concludes and official statistics are published.

Edge cases & clarifications:

  • Season Cancellation or Delay: If the 2026 WNBA regular season is cancelled or postponed after October 8, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, Polymarket resolves to 'Other'. Kalshi's 30 named-player markets would all resolve to No, but Kalshi does not explicitly define an 'Other' outcome, creating a structural gap.
  • Tie-Breaking by Games Played: If two players finish with identical PPG, the player with more games played is declared the leader. This rule is explicit in Polymarket and implicit in both platforms' use of official WNBA leaderboards.
  • Alphabetical Last-Name Tie-Breaker: If two players tie in both PPG and games played, the player whose last name comes first alphabetically wins. This is explicit in Polymarket and standard WNBA leaderboard practice.
  • Unqualified or Non-Listed Players: Polymarket includes a 'someone else' / 'Other' market (Question 27) to capture any PPG leader not explicitly named. Kalshi lists 30 named players but does not provide an explicit 'Other' option; if an unlisted player leads, all 30 Kalshi markets resolve to No.
  • Placeholder Players (Polymarket): Polymarket includes markets for 'Player A' through 'Player O' (15 placeholders) alongside named players. These are likely reserved for late-season roster changes or injury replacements. Resolution depends on Polymarket's internal mapping of these placeholders to actual WNBA roster members.
Timing: Resolution occurs after the 2026 WNBA regular season concludes and official PPG statistics are published on the WNBA leaderboard. The deadline for resolution is October 8, 2026, 11:59 PM ET; if no official leader is declared by then, Polymarket resolves to 'Other'.Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Polymarket

This market will resolve according to the player that finishes the 2026 WNBA regular season with the highest points per game average of any qualified player. In the event of a tie for the highest points per game average, this market will resolve in favor of the player who appeared in the greater number of games. If the tied players also played the same number of games, the market will resolve in favor of the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically. Qualification for inclusion in official WNBA leaderboards (such as minimum games or statistical thresholds) will be determined according to WNBA rules and applied exactly as reflected in the official leaderboard. If the 2026 WNBA regular season is cancelled, postponed after October 8, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or if an official leader has not been declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source will be the WNBA (https://stats.wnba.com/players/traditional/).

Kalshi

The points per game leader is determined by the highest average of the specified statistic across the entire 2026 regular season as documented by official league statistics. Only games officially designated as part of the regular season are included; preseason, postseason, playoff, exhibition, friendly, and all-star statistics are excluded. If a participant competes for multiple teams during the season, statistics from all teams are combined. Participants who do not play any games due to injury, suspension, retirement, or other reasons resolve to No. League minimum qualification thresholds apply. In case of exact ties where the league does not declare a single winner, tied participants receive a proportional payout. Statistical corrections are only considered if made before the expiration date.

Frequently asked questions

Prices for the WNBA points leader market can vary between Polymarket and Kalshi due to a number of factors. Each platform has its own user base, trading dynamics, and liquidity levels, which can influence price discovery. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Furthermore, differing risk appetites and interpretations of available information among traders on each platform contribute to these discrepancies. The volume traded on each platform also plays a role; Polymarket currently has a higher volume, potentially leading to more efficient price discovery, while Kalshi might exhibit more volatility due to lower liquidity. These differences are normal and reflect the decentralized nature of prediction markets.

Several factors could significantly impact this market before it resolves. Player injuries are a major catalyst, as the absence of key scorers could drastically alter the competitive landscape. Changes in team dynamics, such as trades or coaching adjustments, could also influence player performance and, consequently, market prices. Unexpected breakout performances from emerging players could also shift the odds. Finally, any news regarding player health, playing time, or strategic changes will be closely monitored by traders on Polymarket and Kalshi, potentially leading to significant price movements in this market.
