Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions on team form, injuries, or even weather conditions. It’s common to see this market incorporate information more quickly than sportsbooks, potentially leading to more accurate predictions as the event approaches. Comparing the two can offer valuable insights into public perception versus professional analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The most likely outcome, according to current trading, is a 1-1 draw, with shares in that outcome commanding a higher price than those for other potential scores. The total volume traded indicates the level of interest in each possible result.
