This set of markets tracks how many touchdowns are scored through receptions by each team in an upcoming college football matchup. The outcomes depend on whether specific players achieve certain thresholds of receiving touchdowns during the game, reflecting offensive performance and strategy.
These markets resolve based on the total number of receiving touchdowns scored by either Wisconsin or Notre Dame in their college football game scheduled for September 6, 2026. A receiving touchdown is counted when a player catches the ball and scores in the end zone, including plays in overtime. If a player recovers their own fumble and scores, it counts as a receiving touchdown, but if another player recovers a fumble by the receiver and scores, it does not. Successful two-point conversions, regardless of when they occur, are excluded from all counts. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain active and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within that window, the markets resolve to a fair price. The markets are independent of any official NCAA affiliation and use trademarks that belong to their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a team is more likely to score a touchdown than sportsbooks suggest, the price will move accordingly. This can sometimes lead to prediction markets being more accurate than sportsbooks, particularly when public sentiment diverges from expert opinion.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. Each contract represents a possible outcome – in this case, whether a specific team scores a touchdown. The price of a contract reflects the market's assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived chance of them scoring. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price, suggesting a lower probability. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand.
This market resolves around Sep 7, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on official game statistics determining which teams scored touchdowns during the Wisconsin vs Notre Dame game. The official game results will be used to determine which contracts pay out and at what value. The market will settle to 100 if a team scores a touchdown, and 0 if they do not. The final outcome will be publicly available following the conclusion of the game.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game concludes. News regarding key player injuries on either team would likely have a significant impact, as would any changes to weather forecasts predicting conditions favorable or unfavorable for passing offenses. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team formations could also shift market sentiment. Even public perception, influenced by pre-game analysis and media coverage, can contribute to price movements as traders react to new information and adjust their predictions.
