PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Three distinct resolution approaches exist across platforms: Kalshi requires a ball to be played but lacks explicit walkover guidance; Limitless accepts all official winner declarations including technical advances; Polymarket distinguishes between winner resolution (with 50-50 walkover clause) and completion resolution (requiring full play). Scheduled date discrepancy between July 1 and July 2 adds timing uncertainty.Hero tip: Monitor official WTA announcements for the confirmed match date. In walkover scenarios, expect Limitless to resolve to the advancing player, Polymarket winner market to resolve 50-50, and Polymarket completion market to resolve No. For retirement/default mid-match, Limitless and Polymarket winner market resolve to the advancing player, while Polymarket completion market resolves No. Kalshi's 'after a ball has been played' language suggests it may exclude walkovers but lacks explicit clarity.

Critical divergence points:

  • Kalshi: Resolves to Yes if either player wins after a ball is played. Implicit exclusion of pre-match walkovers but no explicit guidance on mid-match retirements or defaults. Key Quote: 'after a ball has been played.'
  • Limitless: Resolves to the official winner regardless of completion method. Explicitly includes walkover, retirement, withdrawal, default, and disqualification as valid winner-determination scenarios. Key Quote: 'a player officially declared the winner of the match will be considered to have defeated the opponent, including in cases of walkover, retirement, withdrawal, default, or disqualification.'
  • Polymarket (Winner): Resolves to advancing player for mid-match retirements/defaults/disqualifications; resolves 50-50 for pre-match walkovers; resolves 50-50 if match canceled, delayed beyond 7 days, or ends in tie. Key Quote: 'If the match ends in a walkover (player withdraws before the start and the other advances automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50.'
  • Polymarket (Completion): Resolves to Yes only if all games and sets are completed through normal play. Any forfeit, retirement, walkover, cancellation, or non-completion resolves to No. Key Quote: 'This market will resolve to Yes if all games and sets required to determine a match winner under governing body or event organizer rules are played to completion through normal play. Otherwise, if the match is not completed for any reason, it will resolve to No.'

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets like those tracked here operate on crowd-sourced pricing, where thousands of traders collectively set odds through real-money stakes. Unlike traditional sportsbooks, which employ oddsmakers and adjust lines for profit margins, prediction markets reflect pure supply and demand. This often makes them more efficient at capturing true probability, especially as event day approaches. Sportsbooks may lag behind or diverge due to risk management and promotional strategies, whereas this market's odds update continuously as new information emerges.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, all of which influence how odds settle. Polymarket may emphasize one outcome while Kalshi reflects a different consensus, depending on which traders are most active and how confident they are in their positions. Timing of information flow, platform-specific incentives, and variations in user base expertise can all widen or narrow the spread between the two. Savvy traders monitor both to identify mispricings and arbitrage opportunities.
