Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, fee structures, and regulatory frameworks that influence how participants price identical outcomes. Polymarket may see heavier institutional flow, while Kalshi draws retail traders with distinct information sets or time horizons. Liquidity depth, order-book dynamics, and platform-specific incentives also create temporary mispricings. Arbitrage traders exploit these gaps, but friction costs and settlement risk prevent instant convergence, allowing meaningful spreads to persist until resolution.
Player fitness updates, recent tournament form, head-to-head records, and court-surface preference shifts can all trigger repricing before the match begins. Withdrawal or injury announcements would cause sharp moves. Pre-match betting action on external sportsbooks often flows into prediction markets, amplifying momentum. Weather forecasts, seeding changes, and draw-dependent scheduling may also influence trader positioning. Real-time match commentary and early-set performance will drive final volatility as traders update beliefs based on live play dynamics.
