PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Three platforms define match resolution differently with respect to incomplete matches, retirements, defaults, and walkovers. Kalshi is vague; Polymarket splits into two markets with opposite logic; Limitless treats all official outcomes as valid.Hero tip: The core divergence is whether a retirement, default, or walkover counts as a valid match outcome or a failed resolution. Kalshi and Polymarket Match Completion require full play; Polymarket Match Winner and Limitless accept official advancement. Before the match, verify which semantic applies to your position on each platform. A player withdrawal or injury will trigger different payouts.

Critical divergence points:

  • Kalshi: Resolves Yes if Mochizuki or Quinn wins after a ball is played. Does not explicitly address retirements, defaults, disqualifications, or walkovers. Minimal specification of edge cases. Key quote: 'after a ball has been played.'
  • Polymarket (Match Completion): Resolves Yes only if all games and sets required to determine a winner are played to completion through normal play. Resolves No if match is incomplete, forfeited, retired, or delayed beyond 7 days. Key quote: 'If a forfeit of any kind occurs, including but not limited to a walkover or retirement, this market will resolve to No.'
  • Polymarket (Match Winner): Resolves to advancing player if match begins but incomplete due to retirement/default/disqualification. Resolves 50-50 for walkover, cancellation, or delay beyond 7 days. Key quote: 'If the match begins but is not completed, and one player advances due to the opponent's retirement, default, or disqualification, this market will resolve to the player who advances.'
  • Limitless: Resolves to the officially declared winner, explicitly including walkover, retirement, withdrawal, default, or disqualification. No distinction between normal play and incomplete matches. Key quote: 'a player officially declared the winner of the match will be considered to have defeated the opponent, including in cases of walkover, retirement, withdrawal, default, or disqualification.'
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets and sportsbooks price events differently because they operate under distinct incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets rely on trader consensus and real-money risk. This market aggregates multiple prediction platforms, which often reflect sharper, less-biased estimates than traditional sportsbooks because traders face direct financial consequences for inaccuracy. Comparing this market's odds to your preferred sportsbook can reveal value opportunities.

Polymarket and Kalshi may price this market differently due to variations in user base, liquidity depth, and market microstructure. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Kalshi's regulatory framework and order-matching engine can produce different equilibrium prices than Limitless's design. Additionally, timing lags in information flow between platforms, differences in fee structures, and the composition of active traders on each venue all contribute to price divergence. These gaps typically narrow as traders arbitrage across platforms.

Several catalysts could shift prices significantly before resolution. Injury reports, training footage, or official statements from either competitor's camp often trigger sharp repricing. Media coverage and expert analysis can sway trader sentiment, while betting patterns on traditional sportsbooks sometimes lead prediction markets. Close to the event date, lineup confirmations and final weigh-ins typically drive volatility. Real-time updates during the match itself will produce the sharpest moves as traders react to live performance data.
