PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Three distinct resolution scopes exist: Polymarket separates match completion (binary) from match winner (with walkover carve-out), while Kalshi and Limitless treat any official winner declaration as valid resolution regardless of completion method or forfeiture type.Hero tip: Do not assume all three markets move together. Polymarket's completion market is a separate bet from its winner market. Retirement after play begins favors Kalshi/Limitless but may split Polymarket. Pre-match walkover is a 50-50 on Polymarket winner but YES on Kalshi/Limitless. Treat these as three independent contracts with different payoff structures.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket (Completed Match): Binary completion-only market. Resolves YES only if match is played to full completion under normal play rules. Resolves NO for any non-completion outcome including retirement, default, disqualification, walkover, cancellation, or delay beyond 7 days. Key Quote: 'This market will resolve to "Yes" if all games and sets required to determine a match winner under governing body or event organizer rules are played to completion through normal play. Otherwise, if the match is not completed for any reason, it will resolve to "No."'
  • Polymarket (Winner): Winner market with walkover carve-out. Resolves to advancing player if match begins but is not completed due to retirement/default/disqualification. Resolves 50-50 if walkover occurs before start, match is canceled, or delayed beyond 7 days without winner. Key Quote: 'If the match ends in a walkover (player withdraws before the start and the other advances automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50.'
  • Kalshi: Simple binary winner market. Resolves YES if either player wins after a ball has been played. No distinction between normal play and forfeiture methods. Does not address walkover, cancellation, or delay scenarios. Key Quote: 'If Daniel Merida wins the Merida vs Medvedev professional tennis match... or if Daniil Medvedev wins... then the market resolves to Yes.'
  • Limitless: Winner market accepting all official declarations. Resolves to the player officially declared winner by governing body, including walkover, retirement, withdrawal, default, or disqualification. No carve-outs for forfeiture methods. Key Quote: 'For the purposes of this market, a player officially declared the winner of the match will be considered to have defeated the opponent, including in cases of walkover, retirement, withdrawal, default, or disqualification.'

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets and sportsbooks price events differently because they operate under distinct incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and extract a margin; prediction markets let traders set prices through supply and demand. Prediction markets often reflect sharper, more dynamic pricing because traders risk real capital on accuracy. However, sportsbooks may move faster on breaking news due to dedicated risk management. Comparing this market's odds across both venues and against major sportsbooks can reveal which pricing model best captures current information about the match.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, all of which influence price discovery. Kalshi and Limitless may have distinct user bases with varying risk appetites or information access. Order flow timing, market depth, and platform-specific rules can also create temporary price gaps. Additionally, differences in how each platform handles settlement communication or market mechanics may lead traders to assign slightly different probabilities to the same outcome. These divergences typically narrow as traders arbitrage across venues.
