This market focuses on determining which team will score more points in a specific quarter of a college football game between Western Michigan and Michigan. The outcome depends solely on the performance during the second quarter, regardless of the overall game result.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points in the second quarter of the Western Michigan vs Michigan college football game scheduled for September 5, 2026. If Michigan scores more points in that quarter, the 'Michigan wins 2nd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. If Western Michigan scores more points, the 'Western Michigan wins 2nd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. If both teams score the same number of points, the 'Tie 2nd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. All markets share a common secondary rule: only points scored during the second quarter count, and if the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi explicitly states it is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Generally, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to profit from margins, while this market allows traders to express their own beliefs about the game’s outcome. Often, prediction markets are more accurate than traditional forecasts, particularly when there’s significant public interest. However, sportsbook odds can still be a useful data point for comparison when evaluating the potential for value in this market.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the probability of a specific outcome. As more people buy contracts for a particular team, the price of those contracts increases, reflecting a higher implied probability of that team winning the second quarter. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movement is driven entirely by supply and demand from traders on Kalshi, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the likely winner.
This market resolves around Sep 6, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team is leading at the end of the second quarter of the Michigan vs Western Michigan game. The result will be based on official game statistics and verified against credible public sources. Traders will then be settled based on whether their chosen outcome aligns with the official result.
Several factors could influence the odds in this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Michigan or Western Michigan teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they are expected to impact the game’s conditions, could also shift the probabilities. Furthermore, any pre-game analysis or updated statistics released by sports analysts could influence trader sentiment and impact the price of contracts in this market.
