This set of markets tracks various thresholds of points scored in the first half of a college football game between Western Michigan and Michigan. Each threshold represents a different level of scoring intensity, allowing participants to speculate on how high-scoring the first half will be.
The markets resolve based on whether the combined points scored by both teams in the first half of the Western Michigan vs Michigan college football game scheduled for September 5, 2026, exceed specified thresholds ranging from 2.5 to 41.5 points. Only points scored during the first half count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds to attract balanced betting and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to freely express their beliefs about the outcome. It’s common to see this market move independently of sportsbook odds as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. However, discrepancies can sometimes appear, offering opportunities for arbitrage if you believe the market is mispricing the event compared to what sportsbooks are offering.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their predictions. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. As more traders buy contracts for a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading volume influence how quickly the price responds to new information and changing sentiment. Traders are constantly adjusting their positions, leading to a dynamic and evolving price discovery process.
This market resolves around Sep 6, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official total score of the first half of the Western Michigan vs Michigan football game, as reported by a trusted sports data source. The final price of contracts in this market will reflect whether the actual total score was above or below the relevant threshold at the time of resolution. Traders holding contracts on the correct side will receive a payout.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Western Michigan or Michigan teams would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favorable to a high- or low-scoring game, could also move the market. Public perception, influenced by expert analysis or social media discussion, can also play a role, as traders react to evolving expectations. Finally, any major shifts in betting patterns at sportsbooks could spill over and affect trading activity in this market.
