Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market is driven purely by individuals’ willingness to buy or sell based on their beliefs about the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access, biases, or simply the dynamics of how each type of market operates. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it may indicate that the market perceives information differently than professional oddsmakers, or vice versa.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event's likelihood. The current implied probability of a specific outcome is reflected in the share price, which fluctuates based on supply and demand within the market.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market before resolution. Any news regarding the players’ form, potential injuries, or changes in playing conditions could significantly impact trader sentiment.
