Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate the collective beliefs of traders who have real money at stake. This market may show different implied probabilities than major sportsbooks, particularly as new information emerges closer to kickoff. Comparing the two can reveal where the crowd's confidence differs from bookmaker pricing, though both sources provide valuable perspectives on likely outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the aggregate of all trades placed by participants, with prices adjusting continuously as new volume enters the market. Traders profit by correctly predicting the second half result, and the market price converges toward the true probability as more information becomes available and the event draws closer.
This market resolves around Aug 2, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals during the second half period only. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs shortly after the final whistle, pending confirmation of the official match result.
Several factors could shift odds before kickoff and during the match. Team news such as injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements often trigger sharp price movements. Weather conditions, venue factors, and recent form can influence trader sentiment. During the second half itself, goals, red cards, and momentum swings will drive rapid repricing as the outcome becomes clearer. Early second half action is particularly impactful, as traders update their probability estimates based on how the match unfolds in real time.
