Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, which naturally creates price gaps. Polymarket and Kalshi may also have distinct user bases with varying access to real-time sports data or different risk appetites. Arbitrage traders typically exploit these spreads, but temporary divergences persist due to order-book depth, settlement confidence, and platform-specific rules. Monitoring both venues helps you identify mispricings and understand where conviction is strongest.
Key catalysts include injury announcements to star players, bullpen availability, recent team performance streaks, and head-to-head matchup history. Weather conditions at game time, lineup changes, and trades before the deadline can shift trader conviction significantly. Breaking news about roster depth or unexpected roster moves often triggers sharp repricing. Monitoring sports news, team social media, and injury reports in the days leading up to the game will help you anticipate market moves.
