Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than traditional sportsbook odds, particularly when accounting for implied probabilities. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which can distort the true probabilities. This market, however, allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the likelihood of different exact scores, leading to potentially more efficient pricing. It’s common to see differences emerge as new information becomes available or as public sentiment shifts, but over time, prediction markets often converge towards the actual outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible exact score. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust, reflecting the collective forecast. The market’s efficiency relies on active participation and the availability of information, allowing traders to quickly incorporate new data into their assessments of the match’s potential results. The current price reflects what traders are willing to pay for exposure to each outcome.

This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final result of the Waltham Abbey vs. Dagenham match – the exact score – will be used to determine which shares pay out. Resolution relies on official match data, ensuring an objective and transparent process. Traders should monitor official sources for the confirmed final score to understand the settlement of this market. Any disputes will be handled according to Polymarket’s established procedures.

Several factors could influence the trading activity and price movements in this market. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in player lineups, or shifts in team form could significantly impact the perceived probabilities of different exact scores. Weather conditions on match day, tactical decisions made by the managers, and even in-game events like red cards or penalties could all contribute to shifts in market sentiment. Unexpected announcements or public statements related to the teams or players could also trigger changes in trading volume and price adjustments.
