Prediction market odds often differ from those offered by sportsbooks, reflecting the wisdom of the crowd versus the assessments of professional oddsmakers. Sportsbooks set initial lines to balance their risk, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome, leading to potentially more accurate predictions. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply a larger sample size of opinions contributing to the prediction market price. It’s common to see this market adjust rapidly to new information, sometimes before sportsbooks do.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. The price of each share reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived likelihood. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The platform uses a dynamic pricing model, adjusting in real-time to reflect the collective intelligence of the traders participating in the market. This creates a fluid and responsive assessment of the game’s potential results.
