Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. While sportsbooks may initially have different odds, they often adjust as more information becomes available and public sentiment shifts, potentially converging with the prediction market price. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access or varying interpretations of the players’ form.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly updating their positions, and the market price reflects the aggregated view of all participants. Higher demand for shares indicating a specific player will win drives up the price, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to new information and changing expectations.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before the match concludes. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in playing conditions (like weather), or updated rankings could significantly shift trader sentiment. Unexpected results in earlier rounds of the tournament for either player could also impact expectations. Furthermore, analysis from tennis experts or shifts in public opinion, as reflected in social media or sports news, can all contribute to price movements. A strong performance by either player in a preceding match would likely increase confidence in their chances.
