Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket, aims to represent the true probabilities as perceived by the crowd. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market’s odds can shift rapidly based on new information and changing sentiment, potentially offering a more accurate forecast of the match’s outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific player, the price of those shares increases, reflecting a higher implied probability of that player winning. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand, and the current price effectively represents the market’s consensus forecast for the Tianjin tennis match. This dynamic pricing allows for real-time adjustments based on new information and evolving opinions.
